Golf on the Costa Blanca: more than just a sport, a lifestyle

Despite its elitist image, golf is an enjoyable exercise that does not require optimal physical condition. It is played in beautiful landscapes, where the green grass, artificial lakes and mountains create an ideal setting for relaxation. The leisurely pace of the game allows you to enjoy the scenery while developing technical skills.

Originating in Scotland, the first games date back to the 15th century, and as early as 1744 the first golfing association was formed in Scotland. The sport has long been associated with high net worth individuals, partly because of its presence among executives and business people, and also because a 2016 study by Santander Bank ranked it as the most expensive sport.

The Costa Blanca stands out as an excellent destination for golf in Spain.

The Costa Blanca: An International Golf Destination

With more than half a million visitors a year, according to the Tourist Board of the Alicante Provincial Council, the region has 20 golf courses spread across various locations. The combination of its climate, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and its rich gastronomic and cultural offer, make this area an international reference point.

Outstanding courses on the Costa Blanca
  • La Sella Golf (Dénia): Located at the foot of Montgó mountain, it offers 27 holes in three courses.
  • Club de Golf Jávea: Close to the sea, with outstanding flora and services.
  • Club de Golf Ifach (Benissa): With impressive views of the Ifach rock and the Mediterranean.
  • Club de Golf Altea: With the Bernia mountain range in the background, it has 18 holes and par 72.

Costa Blanca Golf Courses Association

The Costa Blanca and Valencian Community Golf Courses Association (ACGCBCV), created in 1992, has been key in the promotion of golf in the region, achieving in 2017 the award of best European golf destination by the World Golf Tourism Organization.

On the Costa Blanca, golf is more than a sport; it is a lifestyle. The quality of its facilities and the complementary offer of restaurants, leisure and accommodation contribute to a healthy balance between mental, physical and emotional for its practitioners.
